It’s now very well known that when you wipe a hard drive, you only ever wipe the index but never the whole book. Everybody also knows that the pace of technological evolution means that computers are often obsolete within a relatively short space of time of them being heralded as state-of-the-art! This means that we get through a lot of computers in our lifetimes. Many people choose to dispose of their old PC’s at refuse dumps or by selling them on. It has to be recognised that if this is done without the secure destruction of the hard drive, your data is at risk of fraudulent use. Many PC’s and hard drives are valued by organised crime which target discarded drives for stored credit card numbers, bank details, company data and personal identity information which the previous owner thinks has been erased.
The only way to guarantee that the contents of a drive can never be seen again is by it’s physical destruction. You have a choice, you can remove the hard drive from your PC, unscrew the disk from the metal case and try to smash it to pieces with a hammer. Or you can use us. Our shredding machinery makes short work of hard drives. We simply feed the drives into our shredder and within a couple of minutes, the drive is reduced to nothing more than filings, as the picture demonstrates.
